How to read this map
A history of the current inventory
The source is the city inventory captured on , joined to the earliest qualifying departure or arrival in Divvy’s trip archive. Retired locations absent from that inventory are absent here too. Historical views use today’s coordinates and status filter; they do not reconstruct historical operating status, station moves, or dock installations.
The right ward for the time
Ward maps switch on May 18, 2015 and May 15, 2023. Each historical total uses the boundaries in force on that date. Each first-trip event belongs to its ward on the day of that trip, including within transition years. Redistricting can change a ward’s total without adding a station.
Public racks are optional
The toggle includes locations whose current name contains “Public Rack.” Capacity alone is not a reliable rack classification: some other stations also have four docks. This file is the city’s inventory, not a complete inventory of every rack in the operator’s feed. Dock counts describe the snapshot only.
Counting trips
Each trip counts once per ward or station it touches, even if it starts and ends in the same place. City totals count each trip once. Trips are grouped by departure year; each endpoint uses the ward map in force on its own date. Station charts follow the resolved station identity, including historical names and IDs.
Locating dockless trips
Ward counts include endpoints without stations. Precise reported coordinates take priority; missing or rounded station coordinates use the resolved historical station location. Dockless coordinates rounded to a grid are assigned using that grid point, so ward assignments near borders are approximate. Unlocatable endpoints remain unassigned.
Dates have limits
Stations without matched dates appear only in the latest inventory view and never in the historical trend. Flagged identity or relocation histories remain included, with review notes in station details. The latest first-trip evidence is ; the last year is partial.
